rich had a 3 day weekend so we decided to visit the last few places we really wanted to go before we move. we managed to squeeze in a lot of fun!
thursday: after rich was done for the day we drove to DC and stayed with rich's aunt and uncle--so fun to see them--they were so good to us.
friday: we had a very nice leisurely morning and in the afternoon went to visit uncle john at the pentagon where he works. he was so great to take us on a tour and show us around. the memorial there is really interesting and inside the pentagon is HUGE. they have everything you could ever want/need in there so if you never wanted to leave you wouldn't have to--food, banks, a gym--they even have their own jeweler and 3 redboxes! it was fun walking around. we felt very cool. they def. don't get many babies in there so maza got lots of attention. :) that night we met our friends brook and linwood (who left us in pittsburgh to move to DC) and had the most delicious korean chicken in the whole wide world. we originally went there on our new york trip, and lucky for us they have one in DC too. it was great to see them and spend the evening hanging out together!
saturday: brook made us german pancakes and then we were off to see philadelphia! it was about a 2 hour drive from where they lived. we made it there in time for a lunch of philly cheese steak sandwiches! abi, arie and gang decided to do a trip as well, but kind of opposite of us, and arie's sister kirsten from new york met us down there as well so we had quite the crew! we visited the liberty bell and where the constitution was written and learn a little bit more about our countries history. i came home with a desire to read more about our history. we walked around the city for a bit, and went to a really fun amish marketplace--they had TONS of things to eat, produce to buy, pastries, candies, mmmm. we wanted to try everything! we finally decided on an amish woopie pie. it was delicious!!! our last stop of the day was at the museum of art to see the rocky statue and run the stairs--eye of the tiger baby! that night we stayed with brooks cousins a half hour away in new jersey. they were so great to have all of us.

sunday: we said our goodbyes and parted ways with everyone and started to head back towards home, stopping about halfway for an afternoon exploring gettysburg. we could not have asked for a more beautiful day. it was so peaceful and really so beautiful. it was hard to imagine such bloody battles happening there years ago. maza was a champion traveler and behaved herself even better than we could've asked for the whole trip. we made it home sunday evening.

and... guess what? maza is 9 months old now!! a few things about 9 month old maza:
--her top two teeth started coming in. they are very cute, and it looks like she is going to have a nice gap between her 2 teeth. rich has assured her he can fix it so not to worry :)
-- she sits and plays and scooches on her bum to move herself around. on her belly she has started to move backwards. still not crawling but every day i feel like she gets stronger and stronger
--she is a ham for the camera, she loves to smile
--she loves her cousin evelyn. a new favorite thing to do is sit on the office chair and spin around together
--her hair is getting so light!
--she is 17 lbs 12 oz and 27 inches tall
